Band 7 - Salary Range $106,626 to $119,182 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.

The Opportunity

Our mission is to deliver civil infrastructure for the benefit of communities in our fast-growing municipality. This role supports that goal by ensuring Council’s Capital Works civil programs and projects are delivered in accordance with Council specifications and standards.

This role will lead a team of Civil Projects Officers and report to the Civil Operations Coordinator and will liaise with Council staff, contractors, statutory authorities, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to procure, schedule and deliver Council Capital Works Projects and Programs and manage the contracts so that works are in accordance with OHS legislation, and quality, traffic and environmental management standards.
  • Review and consent to (or approve) procurement documents and contract management plans for works under contracts and records of all compliance checking activities of the team.
  • Review and provide budgetary control and submit reports on the progress and financial status of the assigned Civil Capital Works Projects and Programs.
  • Lead the team in cultivating a productive working relationship with contractors and other teams in Melton City Council to ensure the aims of the project are achieved.
  • Identify and document improvements related to procurement and delivery of Civil Works Projects and Programs.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in civil engineering with extensive experience in civil infrastructure construction and maintenance or a less formal qualification with substantial relevant experience in all aspects of civil infrastructure construction and maintenance. 
  • Extensive experience in project and contract management and contract supervision, and proven extensive experience in projects and programs delivery and monitoring, with proficient communication skills to convey technical matters to a diverse range of people.
  • Proficient in interpreting and understanding simple and complex engineering plans and specifications in relation to civil construction works, and good working understanding of OH&S, traffic management and construction standards. 
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Industry Induction (red card or white card).
