The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual within the City Growth and Development department.
We need an inspired Leader to join our supportive team as Coordinator Development Planning- where you'll lead a team of Planners in providing for the streamlined assessment of a diverse array of planning applications throughout the municipality.
Your leadership will contribute to the development of vibrant, well-designed communities externally and maintenance of a positive team culture internally. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of an efficient and streamlined Planning function within the department.
- Coordinate the assessment of planning applications, using a facilitative project management approach.
- Supervise the preparation of reports and documentation in relation to planning permit applications.
- Undertake negotiations and consultation with developers and their various consultants and advisers to satisfactorily resolve development issues.
- Provide direct support to the Manager City Growth & Development.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- A degree and experience in the field of specialist expertise; alternatively, lesser formal qualifications combined with extensive and diverse experience; or intensive specialist experience.
- Experience in successful team leadership and people management including motivating, developing and inspiring a team and overseeing the Development Planning function.
- Extensive knowledge of the Victorian planning system and statutory controls/legislation, (including the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Subdivision Act 1988) and planning assessment processes.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills incorporating verbal and written communication, negotiation, facilitation, advocacy, and maintenance of productive relationships with stakeholders and a focus on customer service.
