The Opportunity
You will be part of the Advocacy and Government Relations team that aims to maximise investment for the City of Melton community through evidence-based advocacy, grant attraction and meaningful stakeholder and government relations that is impactful, high profile and highly regarded.
Reporting to the Manager Advocacy and Government Relations you will support and advise on government relations activity that will strengthen relationships and advance local priorities for one of the fastest growing local government areas in Australia.
This position supports Council’s government relations program, including State and Federal Government stakeholders, to strengthen and embed relationships, creating an environment for improved partnerships and investment.
Key Responsibilities
- Government Relations: Support delivery of Council’s government relations program including developing targeted engagement plan, scheduling meetings, preparing briefing materials and coordinating follow up actions.
- Advocacy: Support the review and development of Council’s advocacy strategies and campaigns and delivery of objectives, priorities and actions.
- Communication: Develop and write a range of written materials including correspondence, briefings notes, fact sheets, publications, presentations, submissions, online content and other materials.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in policy development, political science, international relations, communications or other related field with relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in advocacy, government relations and/or communications, policy development, and grant attraction.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels with credibility and tact and foster collaboration to drive outcomes.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
