The Opportunity
Council's Young Communities services unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to optimise the wellbeing and resilience of young people aged 12 - 25 years and their families through the identification, design, establishment, and delivery of inclusive, adaptable, and accessible programs. You will be responsible for establishing and maximising relationships with organisations to improve outcomes for young people and advocate for their needs.
As an Engagement and Activation Officer within the Young Communities services unit, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating a range of youth events, youth leadership and awards programs, school engagements, consultations and contribution to Young Communities strategic plan and service delivery.
Reporting to the Team Leader Engagement and Activation, you will contribute for the development, delivery, and evaluation of youth related initiatives. The successful member will play a crucial role in networking and building rapport with local businesses, schools, organisations, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a range of youth engagement programs and events initiatives that address engagement and support of young people across the municipality.
- Undertake and be accountable for engagement administrative tasks, including the development of program/event proposals and evaluations, event management plans, program budgets and maintaining accurate records and statistical information.
- Support strategic partnerships by representing the needs of local young people on networks and committees as required and advocate on youth issues with key sectors of the community. This includes engage with community groups, service providers and schools to promote awareness of the Youth Development and Support Services available for young people and their families.
- Assist the Team Leader/Coordinator with the preparation of the Young Communities budget, reports for Council and funding bodies.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development and Welfare or a related discipline with some experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, facilitation and evaluation of a wide range of programs and engagement activities for young people.
- Proven ability to engage young people and motivate and encourage active youth participation.
- Demonstrated experience implementing projects and achieving outcomes within budget and timeframe.
- Hold a current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
