The Opportunity
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that delivers programs and projects at Community Centres and builds community capacity to implement sustainable local initiatives and services
The role will lead the implementation of policy, service models and operational frameworks for the management of Council’s Community Centre programs and support and mentor staff to deliver high quality community outcomes. The role reports to the Coordinator, Community Participation and Partnerships and works closely with the Team Leader, Community Programs and Connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of policy, service models and operational frameworks for the management of Council’s Community Centre programs.
- Manage projects that builds community capacity and creates opportunities to implement sustainable local initiatives and services.
- Lead, support and mentor staff to ensure the quality management of operational resources, asset stewardship, excellence in customer support and risk mitigation in the daily operations of Community Centres.
- Development and implementation of a range of community engagement processes to guide the development of learner focused and place-based programs, events, experiences, and learning opportunities for and with the local community.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships across Council, the community, key service providers and government agencies to improve service outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development or health promotion, with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience
- Substantial knowledge and expertise in development and management of community learning programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, including the ability to motivate and develop staff and volunteers and set priorities to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a changing environment to achieve targets within tight timelines and the ability to adapt to meet urgent priorities.
- Experience in working directly with local community groups through community engagement, consultation and various communication methodologies.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
- Current valid Victorian drivers licence.
