Band 6 - Salary Range $97,926 - $106,637 per annum pro rata + 12% Super

The Opportunity

This is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families in one of Australia’s fastest growing and most diverse communities.

As Playgroups Supervisor you’ll oversee our Families and Playgroups Program and Supported Playgroup services, ensuring these services meet or exceed expected measures.

Reporting to the Coordinator Early Years Partnerships, you’ll lead a team of qualified educators and playgroup facilitators that work part-time and across multiple locations. As a trusted advisor and mentor to your team, you will act as the primary contact for direct reports, providing technical support and operational guidance including rostering, budget administration, venues liaison, leadership of team meetings and completion of annual performance reviews.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, support and mentor the playgroups team to ensure that program delivery complies with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Act as a representative and advocate of Council, parenting services and early years services on relevant project working groups and committees
  • Ensure your team’s funding objectives are met, including all reporting, financial and accountability requirements.
  • Make recommendations and implement approved actions toward continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification with relevant experience in early childhood, community development, education, welfare or social work or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of legislation, regulations and guidelines related to the provision of parenting and early years services, ideally including playgroup programs.
  • A strong dedication to Work Health and Safety and Child Safe practices, polices, and procedures; experience fostering a secure work environment and proactively mitigating potential risks.
  • Experience managing staff with the ability to lead and support staff to deliver program outcomes whilst driving a supportive and high-performance culture.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communications to suit varying audiences.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
