The Opportunity
We are seeking a Green Living Officer to deliver engaging sustainability education, community capacity-building and behaviour change programs across Melton.
Reporting to the Coordinator Sustainability and Climate Resilience, this role works closely with community groups, schools, Council teams and external partners to promote practical, accessible sustainable living practices.
The position is permanent full time and based at the Melton Civic Centre, with some work occurring in community settings across the municipality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and evaluate sustainability education, engagement and behaviour change programs for the community and schools
- Develop and deliver curriculum-aligned education programs for schools and early years settings
- Support community-led sustainability initiatives, champions and local groups
- Promote and attend community events, workshops and festivals to raise awareness of Council’s sustainability and climate action initiatives
- Develop digital content, publications and campaign materials to support behaviour change and engagement
- Maintain accurate records, participation data and program evaluations
- Undertake occasional work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support events and community engagement activities

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Sustainability, Environment, Community Engagement, Education, Communications or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering sustainability or climate-related community education and behaviour change programs
- Strong knowledge of sustainability, climate action, circular economy and integrated water management
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including CALD communities and young people
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check
