The Opportunity
Working as part of an experienced and innovative event team, this role contributes to the planning, delivery and evaluation of Council’s event program including large scale outdoor events, significant Civic Events and reviewing and executing community event permits ensuring high standards of logistics, safety and compliance with Council policies.
Reporting directly to the City Events and Arts Coordinator, the role works closely with community and Council employees ensuring all events are ran in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Planning and Execution: Oversee and deliver all aspects of an event lifecycle within set budgets and timeframes.
- Budget and Logistics Management: Support the development and manage event budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient logistical coordination.
- Community Events: Assess and execute community and business event applications for compliance with Council policies and regulations.
- Safety and Compliance: Implement and uphold Occupational Health and Safety and risk management strategies to ensure safe and compliant events.
- Stakeholder and Internal Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and community groups and support internal departments for smooth event delivery.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Qualifications and Experience: A tertiary qualification in Event Management or related discipline with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualification s with proven substantial experience in event management.
- Event Planning and Execution: Experience in event planning and delivery with a focus on adherence to OHS standards and risk management practices.
- Community Engagement: Experience in community engagement and project facilitation.
- Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Problem-Solving and Compliance: In-depth understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for public events and festivals, with strong skills in issue resolution, risk management, and emergency response. Must hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
- Flexibility: This role required flexibility to ensure effective delivery of operational outcomes. You will be required to occasionally work beyond standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
