The Opportunity
The City of Melton is located on the fringe of Melbourne in the rapidly expanding western corridor. The city is experiencing one of the fastest growth rates in the state and is currently seeking to fill a permanent fulltime Senior Animal Attendant position within the Pound Services team as part of the Community Safety Department.
This position will report to the Pound Services Team Leader and assist in the day to day operation of our pound facility in accordance with relevant legislation and codes of practice in conjunction with Council’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all legislative requirements and relevant Codes of Practice are adhered to. (For the purposes of the ‘Code of Practice for the Management of Shelters and Pounds’ this position discharges the role of ‘Operations Manager’).
- Carry out daily health and wellbeing checks of all impounded animals including relevant recommendations/assessments of animals as required.
- Provide training and guidance to Animal Attendants and Contractors as required.
- Establish and maintain processes to encourage re-homing of impounded animals through animal rescues/shelters.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Certificate IV in Animal Control/Compliance or equivalent certificate or substantial animal pound/shelter experience.
- Experience relating to working in an animal keeping environment that includes the care, cleaning, feeding and hygiene of animals.
- Considerable knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice and legislation relating to Domestic Animals and livestock.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
