The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Recreation and Facility Activation Business Unit as the Facility Activation & Engagement Officer.
Reporting to the Coordinator Leisure Centres, this position plays an important role in helping to deliver and enhance the health and wellbeing of residents in the City of Melton.
The Facilities Activation & Engagement Officer is responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders to develop opportunities to activate the indoor sport stadiums within the City of Melton. This role will also support the provision of a range of accessible indoor recreation programs and initiatives that encourage participation consistent with Council’s strategic priorities.
We are looking for someone who has a high level of professional customer service techniques and communication skills, an understanding of Occupational Health & Safety, and who is well organised to support the daily operations of Council’s indoor stadiums.
Key Responsibilities
- Build mutually beneficial networks and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a range of accessible programs and initiatives that encourages participation in active lifestyles consistent with Council’s strategic priorities.
- Provide exceptional service delivery in partnering and engaging with community groups and key stakeholders such as sporting, recreation, health and education organisations, to enable the activation of Council’s indoor stadiums.
- Manage the usage of Indoor Sport Stadiums in partnership with key user groups including developing and managing user occupancy agreements.
- Ensure program operations adhere to Council policies and procedures, including Occupational Health & Safety and Risk Management.
- Represent Council in external forums and network groups relevant to the delivery and promotion of Leisure Centre programs.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in recreation, sport, or community development, or related discipline, with little or no relevant work experience, alternatively lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills.
- Experience or ability to supervise contract instructors/facilitators, and motivate, supervise, and monitor the development of students and volunteers.
- Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement to create a collaborative working relationship to achieve shared outcomes.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
