The Opportunity
Play a pivotal role in building the workforce of tomorrow at one of Australia’s fastest‑growing Councils. This senior leadership opportunity will see you design, deliver and evaluate evidence‑based organisational design, learning and leadership initiatives that strengthen capability, inclusion and adaptability across a rapidly evolving organisation.
As the Organisational Development Coordinator, you will be a trusted partner to leaders, driving organisational effectiveness, enabling cultural uplift and elevating leadership capability to ensure exceptional outcomes for Melton City Council’s diverse and expanding community.
This is a newly created role, offering a rare opportunity to shape the function from the ground up.
You’ll bring fresh thinking, contemporary OD practice and bold ideas to support the Council’s strategic priorities and future‑ready workforce. If you’re motivated by impact, influence and the chance to leave a lasting legacy, this role puts you at the heart of meaningful change from day one.
Key Responsibilities
The Organisational Development Coordinator will:
- Lead and embed enterprise‑wide organisational development initiatives that support Council’s People Strategy and broader strategic objectives.
- Provide expert, trusted advice on organisational design, workforce reform, leadership development, talent management, change management and cultural transformation.
- Ensure strong governance and data integrity across organisational development activities.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Organisational Development team and partner network.
- Design, deliver and evaluate contemporary leadership development, learning and capability programs that strengthen people leadership.
- Partner with the Chief People Officer, in shaping the People & Safety strategy, vision and purpose, and driving delivery against agreed outcomes.
- Exercise delegated authority for financial decision‑making within the approved budget.
- Identify, escalate and provide strategic advice on significant risks, issues or opportunities to the Executive Leadership Team.
About you
You are a technically credible and practically minded organisational development leader who can translate strategy into action and work effectively with others to deliver meaningful outcomes. You will hold a tertiary qualification in organisational development, human resources, leadership, organisational psychology or a related discipline. Alternatively, you may demonstrate extensive senior‑level experience delivering enterprise‑wide organisational development outcomes within a complex public sector or local government environment.

Alternatively, you may demonstrate extensive senior‑level experience delivering enterprise‑wide organisational development outcomes within a complex public sector or local government environment.
- Proven experience leading, motivating and developing teams, fostering high performance, accountability and positive engagement.
- Strong operational capability, with demonstrated experience overseeing the end‑to‑end delivery of organisational development functions and initiatives.
- Extensive experience driving organisational change, including influencing senior leaders, navigating complexity, and embedding sustainable new ways of working.
- Highly developed people and organisational leadership skills, with the ability to communicate with influence, build trust, and establish credibility with diverse stakeholders, including Executive Leadership.
- Deep knowledge of culture, engagement and inclusion frameworks, with the ability to interpret engagement data, workforce insights and qualitative diagnostics to design and implement evidence‑based interventions that improve leadership effectiveness and employee experience.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
