The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Coordinator Open Space Planning in the City Strategy Department, reporting to the Manager of City Strategy. You will lead a high performing team to develop and implement strategies and policies to guide the planning and improvement of our parks, streetscapes and open space networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Open Space Planning staff, providing expertise in the areas of community and open space planning, project management, community engagement and consultation.
- Provide technical expertise on internal landscape projects including the development of guidelines, streetscape improvement works, master plans and other landscape plans including detailed design and documentation as required.
- Provide specialist input to development proposals considered by Council including precinct structure plans, development plans, urban design frameworks and planning permit applications including statutory referrals, where relevant to the open space planning functions.
- Manage the preparation and management of project briefs for a range of landscape architecture, open space and recreation projects and where required, manage the work undertaken by external consultants.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a broad range of landscape master planning, open space and recreation planning projects.
- High level of motivation with an ability to be pro-active and make a positive contribution to the City Strategy team and the wider organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to practise and apply the leadership competencies required to build and maintain a high performing team.
- Highly developed liaison skills and ability to gain co-operation with Council staff, government agencies, consultants, and the community to achieve positive outcomes
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence and employee Working with Children Check.
