The Opportunity
We are seeking a vibrant, positive Lactation Consultant to join the ever-growing Maternal and Child Health team to support families within Melton City Council with their decision to breastfeed. Must be enthusiastic, adaptable and able to work independently and in a team environment.
The position requires persons with highly developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and a capacity to relate effectively to a diverse range of families, communities and professionals in a constantly changing environment.
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Division 1 nurse or a Registered division 1 nurse and Registered midwife with current IBCLC qualified lactation consultant
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the enrolment of families into the breastfeeding service.

- Provide accurate evidenced-based information and resources to breastfeeding women and their families.
- Maintain operation data and provide timely and accurate reports and information.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with community agencies and services for the purpose of referral.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Minimum qualifications, current Registration with AHPRA as both a Registered Division 1 nurse and a Registered Midwife, current IBCLC qualified Lactation Consultant.
- Post Graduate qualifications as Maternal and Child health Nurse highly desirable.
- Be passionate about promoting the health benefits of breast feeding, whilst acknowledging that it is not always the only outcome for all mothers.
- Providing secondary support and advice to MCH nurses regarding current breast feeding education.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
