The Opportunity
Melton City Council is searching for an exceptional parks and open space professional to join us as our Team Leader Parks. Reporting to the Coordinator Parks and Open Space and leading a small team, this role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the City’s growing number of parks and open spaces, including being Council’s main point of contact with our contractors to ensure service standards are consistently delivered.
In addition to maintenance, this role also oversees the delivery of a range of capital renewal programs and contributes to the Council’s broader strategic goals in managing our parks and open spaces. Key Responsibilities
- Providing strong leadership to the Parks team and ensuring service delivery in line with Council’s established strategies, plans, policies, procedures and budgets.
- Overseeing the major parks assets maintenance contract and several smaller formal contracts, including monitoring compliance and performance.
- Maintaining professional and effective relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
- Developing and coordinating recurrent maintenance and minor capital works programs related to the parks and open space portfolio.
- Effectively managing complex budgets.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in an associated discipline (Horticulture/Landscaping/Arboriculture) with several years’ relevant experience; or considerable working experience in parks and/or public domain maintenance activities.
- Proven ability to effectively lead a small team.
- Experience in major contract management and the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of works programs.
