The Opportunity

The Child, Families & Youth business unit plays an important role in supporting children, young people and families across the City of Melton. As our community continues to grow and evolve, this new role will support the unit to strengthen its strategic planning, governance, compliance and continuous improvement.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Youth Strategy and Compliance Officer to join the team. Reporting to the Coordinator Young Communities, you will take a lead role in strategic planning, governance, compliance, risk management and service improvement. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are safe, evidence-informed, accountable and aligned with Council priorities and funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and review of policies, procedures, governance frameworks and risk management systems
  • Lead compliance, service evaluation, performance measurement and reporting requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice on governance, policy, risk, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships across Council, government, community organisations, youth service providers and other stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in community services, public policy, governance or a related discipline, with several years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning, compliance and continuous improvement within local government, youth services or a comparable community service environment.
  • Ability to lead service evaluation, performance measurement and reporting, using data and evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
