The Opportunity
The Catering Service fits within the Recreation, Facility Activation Business Unit reporting to the Coordinator Leisure Centres. There are several catering sites between Caroline Springs and the Melton Township.
The objective of the role is to lead the delivery of Council’s catering service, support the catering team to provide a high level of customer service and to ensure Council’s catering service meets the requirements of the Food Safety Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible to ensure the day-to-day catering operations are maintained, including work efficiencies, food preparation, presentation and storage.
- Plan, order and distribute stock across the catering sites, to ensure quality and quantities of stock items are available for the daily operations.
- To ensure working conditions and practices are in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety systems and Food Safety Program.
- To support and instruct the catering staff in food preparation and sales and model the provision of high-quality customer service.
- Assist and support the coordinator in preparing and distributing staff rosters and supervising the performance of the team to achieve greed and clear outcomes.
- Ensure stock control and purchasing procedures are implemented, including regular stock takes and audits of catering sites.
- Develop work instructions and procedures that improve the operational efficiency of the service

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Trade cookery qualifications and/or relevant experience in front and back of house catering operations, with knowledge of the Food Safety Program.
- Experience in Point of Sales systems and Microsoft programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a number of tasks and organise work within specific guidelines.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
