The Opportunity

The IT PMO Analyst supports Council to strengthen IT portfolio governance, assurance and optimisation, while coordinating the delivery of high-quality, value-driven IT projects and support activities.

Reporting to the Digital and Program Delivery Lead, the role works closely with the Information Technology team, ePMO, staff across Council, other councils, vendors and consultants.

You will help ensure IT initiatives are effectively planned, monitored and managed in line with Council priorities, the IT Governance Framework and industry best practice.

Through accurate reporting, data analysis, quality assurance and governance support, the role will improve decision-making and the successful delivery of Council’s IT portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

    • Guide and support IT planning, reporting and governance, ensuring alignment with the Council and Wellbeing Plan and the IT Governance Framework.
    • Coordinate stage gate meetings and project health checks, and provide quality assurance over key project artefacts and deliverables.
    • Review project data and prepare accurate program and portfolio reporting, including monthly governance, traffic light, audit and risk reports.
    • Proactively track project status, risks, issues, milestones, schedules, budgets, benefits, resources and dependencies across the IT portfolio.
    • Lead and facilitate portfolio workshops and planning activities, including Program Increment planning, post-implementation reviews and risk workshops.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  •  

    Tertiary qualifications in project management, information technology or a relevant field, together with relevant postgraduate qualifications, or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience.
    Extensive experience in IT project management, including governance frameworks, project methodologies, assurance processes, project financials and portfolio reporting.
    Relevant practical experience supporting and delivering IT projects using traditional, waterfall and agile delivery methodologies.
    Relevant certification in a recognised project, program or portfolio management methodology such as PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, Agile, Scrum, SAFe or equivalent.
    Exceptional analytical, communication, facilitation, influencing and relationship management skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
    Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
